I know students, faculty and staff alike are wondering about Maymester and our summer sessions. With the concurrence of leadership, most will occur remotely.
As with many institutions across the country, it is with great regret that we are announcing the cancellation of our in-person commencement on May 7, as well as all college, school and department-based recognition ceremonies, due to COVID-19.
As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop quickly, I want to assure you that the health and safety of all of our community members is our top priority.
In response to COVID-19, our normal routines have been disrupted, and we may be feeling uncertain of how this will continue to unfold. In light of our first positive case of COVID-19 yesterday and our decision to cancel in-person classes today, I want to reinforce our commitment to meeting the challenges of the global coronavirus health crisis and to doing so by remaining strong and supporting each other as a campus community.
Effective immediately, and as part of campus planning for the public health concern involving coronavirus disease (COVID-19), I have directed the providers of campus student health services to cease the practice of providing appointment verifications to students.Â

As our spring semester hits full stride, I want to remind us of the standards of conduct we hold ourselves to and our need to remain vigilant in protecting and supporting each member of our community. We face persistent challenges in our efforts to foster a truly inclusive 91¸£ÀûÉç, and we share responsibility for enabling a safe, welcoming campus for all.
To those receiving your master’s and doctoral degrees this month, I’d like to express my sincerest congratulations. Thank you for your contributions to our campus community.
