ÌýÌýCU-Data Financial Statements
Learning Objectives: This course provides you with the essential skills to confidently navigate the CU-Data reporting system and extract critical financial insights. You'll learn to access and interpret key m-Fin reports, including Speedtype Summary, Operating Summary, and Financial Detail.
- Maximize your learning by actively participating: Generate reports using your own department's speedtypes to apply these skills directly to your daily responsibilities.
- Enhance your retention: Use a notebook to record Knowledge Check questions, answer them as you progress, and then reveal (by highlighting the text) and review your results.

ÌýÌýPeopleSoft Finance System
Learning Objectives: This training is designed to provide basic information for accessing and using the University of Colorado's PeopleSoft Finance system. TrainingÌýincludes Finance system navigation; ChartFields; Reporting; Journal entries. Current Finance system users who would like a refresher course are always welcome and encouraged to attend.
ÌýÌýAccounting 101
Are you responsible for your department’s business activities but have never taken an accounting or bookkeeping class? Do you wish someone could show you the basics of accounting? Would you like an accounting or bookkeeping refresher course?
Accounting 101 is basic training designed for departmental administrators and staff who have accounting or financial responsibilities, but limited accounting or bookkeeping training. It can also be an accounting refresher course.
This class covers the following concepts and how they fit into the university environment:ÌýÌý
- assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, revenue and expenses
- accrual vs. cash basis of accounting
- debits and credits
- the Accounting Equation
- balance sheet and income statement
This class is presented in four 3-hour sessions. The information is cumulative so please plan on attending all sessions. All sessions will be held virtually via Zoom.
ÌýÌýAccounting 201
ThisÌýcourse will specifically focus on how accounting is managed at 91¸£ÀûÉç. In addition, GAAP accounting concepts will be reviewed.ÌýAre youÌýinterested in this training? Let us know!
Learning Objectives
In this course, our area accountants will:
- CoverÌýrevenues and expenses, liabilities, and assets
- Provide an overview regarding 91¸£ÀûÉç financial oversight
- Review CU financial statements.
- Address how the fund types are differentiated
- Discuss what revenues and expenses can be recorded in our respective fundsÌý
This class will also cover 91¸£ÀûÉç-specific policies, such as sensitive expenses, gift cards, donations, purchase of alcoholÌýand other topics.ÌýÌý
There are no prerequisites for the class, and while the content will be applicable to anyone involved with 91¸£ÀûÉç finance, this class will not coverÌýbasic accounting concepts.ÌýFor those more interested in accounting basics,ÌýAccounting 101, may be more beneficial.
