How to live a healthy lifestyle in 5 easy steps
Eat more mindfully
When you sit down to a meal, make sure you slow down because it is one of the best ways to can get your mind and body to communicate what you really need for nutrition. Make sure you sit in a good environment and that you enjoy and savor every bite. Remember it takes your brain around 20 minutes to realize you are full and if you don’t take it slow the risk is high you will eat way more than you need and you will wind up totally stuffed.
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
It’s recommended that you eat at least 5 portions of different varieties of fruits and vegetables every day and that includes fresh, canned, dried, frozen or juiced. Take small easy-to-manage steps, just add fruit in your breakfast cereals or replace your snack on the afternoon with a banana and soon you will get there!
Getting enough vitamins, antioxidants and potassium can lower the risk of serious health problems such as stroke, heart disease and some types of cancer, so just start eating!
Eat not more or less
We mean you should eat as many calories as you get rid of. If you eat too too many or too few, it can cause serious health problems. Our bodies need food which is converted into energy to work. Try to keep the energy balance by eating what you need, but not more or less.
Tips for keeping the energy balance:
– Try to eat when you are hungry, but not every time you have cravings.
– It is easier to avoid snacking if you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner regularly and a good snack.
– Customize the quantity of food to your own lifestyle. Your need for energy depends on your body size and how much you move on. If you are working out a lot you can, for example, eat more of potatoes or pasta, while those who move less can eat more of vegetables instead.
Eat at set times
Our body is largely affected by the daylight and darkness because of our built- in “body watch” and that is why the absolute best time to eat is during the bright times of the day. The body likes routines, so try eat at specific times every day, about every three to four hours. The classical day should look something like this: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and then perhaps a snack in the evening.
Exercising has a lot of different positive effects and advantages on the way to a healthier life and they affect each other in many different ways. For example, if you move and keep your body in motion you will have a greater desire to eat healthy, you will equip the body for basically all types of food and you will grow a stronger immune system.
This doesn’t mean you have to be at the gym 5 times a week as long as you get a little daily exercise like start taking the stairs instead of the elevator, take the bike for work or take a nice walk after lunch. The advantages are many so why not start today? ?
