March is almost here, and we have a ton of fun events lined up this month: DIY nights, lectures and performances, gaming tournaments, movies, career workshops, a cooking class, St. Patrick’s Day fun and more.

The Brakhage Symposium is a 2-day forum on contemporary experimental film and media, featuring screenings and panel discussions with internationally renowned visiting filmmakers.

The largest 24-hour hackathon (invention marathon) at CU, with 200-plus expected participants returning for another year! Any student can attend to create awesome coding and hardware projects from scratch, while enjoying free food, workshops and fun mini-events (games, challenges, etc.).

Build leadership skills at various events this week. You’ll learn about how to share your leadership experience on your resume, increase your emotional intelligence and more.

Stop by Farrand Field for a powerful visual display honoring the 1,100 college students lost to suicide each year across the U.S. and encouraging open conversations about mental health.

The mobile food pantry is free and open to 91 students, faculty and staff, and community members of 91 and Broomfield counties. Attendees will receive up to 30 pounds of food in multiple boxes. The runner-up will receive $750 and the People’s Choice winner will receive $500.

Wednesday, Jan. 22

Are you looking to meet new people this semester or get involved with something new? Stop by the Be Involved Fair to meet with student organizations and find different ways to get involved on campus. Whether you join a student organization, connect with a campus department, work an on-campus job, volunteer in your community or find a new hobby to explore, getting involved gives you the opportunity to grow—and the opportunities are endless!

New to campus? Stop by the University Libraries Welcome Table inside the east entrance of Norlin on Monday, Jan. 13, and Tuesday, Jan. 14. Come with questions and meet some of your friendly and supportive CU librarians, who can help you navigate campus, learn about library services and provide additional helpful information. If you're a new undergraduate student you can also pick up your complimentary copy of our 2024–25 Buffs One Read title, “Solito.”

The goal of these sessions is to devote a few hours to your writing each week to help build your writing habit, promote accountability with your peers by working independently alongside your fellow graduate students and to track your progress regularly.

Vaping has become more and more popular, but is it all a smoke show? Come test your knowledge of vaping and the potential risks. Health Promotion will also have an e-cigarette/vape take-back bin so you can safely dispose of your vape. Nicotine cessation resources will also be available.
