The Center for Inclusion and Social Change (CISC) provides a supportive space for students across multiple identities. CISC also offers resources for students who care about social justice and activism to find opportunities for community-based learning and social action.Ìý

Visit the Gathering SpaceÌý

Looking for a place on campus to meet up with a classmate or to study? Located in the Center for Community (C4C), N320, students can stop by Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Fridays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to hang out, study, relax and build community.Ìý

The Gathering Space offers students the use of a student lounge, the ‘self-care’ table and free printing. Students may also pick up free menstrual and safer sex supplies in a welcoming and inclusive space.

Attend eventsÌý

Whether you’re wanting to connect with fellow Buffs or learn new skills, the center is proud to support diverse events and programs. All students are invited to be themselves and participate. The events aim to create an inclusive environment where students of all identities can find community.Ìý

  • Community gatheringsÌý– Hosted monthly, the gatherings include informal events to celebrate Latinx and AAPI communities.Ìý
  • Kitchen TableÌý- These monthly gatherings bring together students identifying as women of color working their way through a predominantly white university.Ìý
  • Ìý– The Pride Office hosts weekly events where LGBTQ+ students can gather, have fun and meet new people.ÌýÌý
  • Story CircleÌý– Derived from Indigenous cultures, the story circles introduce dialogue skills and strategies to promote effective conversations across different identities and experiences. Participants will share stories and listen deeply to other storytellers.Ìý
  • Ignite Social Justice ConferenceÌý- Attend on Saturday, Oct. 21, to learn, dialogue, network, strengthen and develop leadership skills and build community around social justice topics.Ìý
  • National First-Generation CelebrationÌýDayÌý– Join CISC on Nov. 8 to celebrate first-generation students.Ìý

Participate in workshopsÌý

The Education & Social Change Office hostsÌýworkshopsÌýfacilitated by CISC professional staff or peer educators. All workshops are designed for undergraduate students.Ìý

Students canÌý, and all workshops require a minimum of 12 participants—emailÌýpeeps@colorado.eduÌýwith questions.Ìý

Build communityÌý

A sense of belonging matters for the success of every college student, but students from underrepresented backgrounds and identities significantly benefit from connection and community. In fact, data shows students who are involved on campus and have positive peer relationships demonstrate better academic performance and improved mental health.ÌýÌý

Within CISC are four offices offering support specific to identities and needs to foster growth and peer-to-peer advocacy.ÌýÌý

Education and Social Change Office

TheÌýEducation and Social Change OfficeÌýprovides transformative educational opportunities. The office aims to create civically conscious leaders who respectfully engage in social justice discourse and activism. The office hosts workshops and the Ignite Social Justice and Leadership Conference and offersÌýself-guided learning resources.

First-Generation Programs and Enrichment Office

TheÌýFirst-Generation Programs and Enrichment OfficeÌýprovides advocacy and support for first-generation college students through theÌýFirst-Generation Scholars ProgramÌýandÌýenrichment programs. The office aims to create visibility, enhance strengths and foster a sense of community and celebration for first-generation students.

Intercultural Engagement Office

TheÌýIntercultural Engagement OfficeÌýcultivates belonging, celebrates community and promotes identity development to support underrepresented student success. The office provides community-building events, identity-based resources, educational programs and opportunities for leadership development.

Pride Office

TheÌýPride OfficeÌýbuilds belonging and community for LGBTQ+ students, faculty and staff. The office aims to empower LGBTQ+ people to embody their identities with pride and celebrate their experiences as part of the community. The Pride Office hosts events, offers training and connects students to other resources.
