Prof. Narasimhan receives grant from the Spencer Foundation
Prof. Bhuvana Narasimhan was recently awarded a grant from the Spencer Foundation to work on a research project titled "'More is Up': Investigating the Vertical Number Line in Preschoolers".Ìý
Together withÌýgraduate studentÌýNorielle Adriculaand a team of undergraduate students, the project will investigate theÌýdevelopment ofÌýspace-number mappings in preschool children. The projectÌýaims to find outÌýwhetherÌýchildren who have noÌýtraining in mathematics nevertheless conceptualize numericalÌýmagnitudes using vertical space. The findings will expand our understanding ofÌýlanguage and numerical cognition in children which will have implications for earlyÌýmathematical instruction.
