Join us on Tuesday, April 29, from 5:00–6:30 pm in the Williams Village Conference Center Multipurpose Rooms for the Capstone “Stories of Now” event. Leadership Studies Minor students will share calls to action from their practicum experiences, highlighting leadership and system-based change efforts. Through storytelling, they’ll present insights gained from partnerships with organizations tackling ecological and social challenges. Celebrate Spring 2025 graduates and get inspired by their timely public narratives. All are welcome!

About the New Venture Challenge (NVC)

The New Venture Challenge (NVC)—a signature program of 91��’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative—is a launchpad for aspiring problem-solvers and creatives. Participants have the opportunity to build impactful ventures through entrepreneurial events and programming, community support, mentorship and the chance to compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding!

Time: 6-9 p.m. —Doors open for general admission and bar (for those over 21) at 5:30 p.m.

Learning Assistants (LAs) are important liaisons between faculty and students, helping faculty better meet the needs of all of their students, and helping students feel more connected and included in the learning environment.

Additionally, being an LA is often a transformative experience for students because they develop further content expertise, build close relationships with faculty, students, and others within the LA community, and become leaders within their department and more broadly across the university. First-semester LAs are supported through weekly meetings with their Lead Faculty and other instructional team members and a 2-credit teaching and learning course (EDUC 4610).

One thing I want to highlight is that since LAs receive a $2050 stipend for their time, rather than being paid hourly, these students do not need to be eligible for federal financial aid. We’re also happy to chat with prospective applicants in LBB 320B and 320C!

Why should you apply to be an LA?

Build skills that not only help you teach, but improve your performance as a student
Develop relationships with other motivated students in the LA community
Connect with faculty members and learn more about possible careers
Give back to the community by both advocating for students and assisting lead faculty
Gain a deeper understanding of the material you help teach
Grow within the LA Program, with mentorship, training, and other opportunities

Join the New Venture Challenge (NVC) on Thursday, March 20 at 6PM as top student and faculty startups founded by women pitch their business ideas to a panel of esteemed judges and a live audience. Come support the next big 91�� innovations as we give away $15,000 in funding – RSVP Today!

The Women Founders Competition of the NVC is a signature program of 91��’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative. This multi-round entrepreneurial competition is held in collaboration with the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship. The top team will secure a spot in the TiE U Colorado competition!

NVC is a launchpad for aspiring problem-solvers and creatives. Participants have the opportunity to build impactful ventures through entrepreneurial events and programming, community support, mentorship and the chance to compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding!

The Conference on World Affairs, the Center for Leadership and the office of Strategic Relations and Communications are thrilled to welcome Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award-winning and three-times Oscar nominated actress, singer and producer Cynthia Erivo to campus the evening of April 7. Erivo was most-recently seen starring in the award-winning film “Wicked.”

Tickets will be available publicly the week of March 17, with the majority of tickets being allocated for 91�� students. Tickets will be offered at no cost.
