Co-founder and CEO of Artimus Robotics, Timothy Morrissey graduated from 91¸£ÀûÉç in 2019 with a PhD in mechanical engineering. After years of research and dedication, Timothy and his team launched Artimus Robotics in 2018 alongside Assistant Professor Christoph Keplinger.
Gary Marshall, a master's student in mechanical enginereing and engineering management, is on a mission to give back to those who protect us—firefighters. He founded EmergenTek in 2018 as a mechanical engineering undergrad.
Why did you choose engineering at 91¸£ÀûÉç?I chose to do engineering at 91¸£ÀûÉç because I wanted to do engineering since I was in 8th grade. After realizing this, I came to tour 91¸£ÀûÉç's engineering department and I fell in love with the

Five years ago, Cassandra Goodby sketched out her first website mockups at the T9Hacks hackathon. Now she’s the lead organizer for the hackathon, a master’s student in the Creative Technologies and Design (CTD) track of the Technology, Media & Society program in the ATLAS Institute, and a professional user experience specialist for NIST, the National Institute for Standards and Technology. She still remembers the jolt of that initial spark.
Why did you choose engineering at 91¸£ÀûÉç?I was actually here for the Data Science field before I got interested in Cybersecurity! I also wanted to take a class with Professor Jim Martin, whose textbook I studied from in my undergraduate. It- The 91¸£ÀûÉç College of Engineering and Applied Science has been selected to host the National Society of Black Engineers National Leadership Conference in 2020 and 2021. The conference is NSBE’s premier training program for approximately 250 national and regional officers who spend four days focused on leadership training and skill-building.
91¸£ÀûÉç’s manufacturing class has been revamped to bring the manufacturing process to life for students with input from industry representatives. They uncovered a need leading to five guest speakers, nine company tours, a manufacturing industry panel and a variety of active learning opportunities.
The first-place team will receive a $10,000 scholarship award.
Today’s graduates have earned a 21st century engineering degree – one steeped in the domain knowledge required to impact our technological world, but which also benefits from the broad character of our university and the interdisciplinary manner in which we approach our educational mission.
