Tenure-track historian in East Asian History, Vassar College

The Department of History at Vassar College invites applications for a full-time,聽tenure-track position in East Asian History at the rank of assistant professor聽beginning August 2024. Specialization in any aspect of modern East Asian history is聽welcome; ability to teach modern Chinese history and/or modern Japanese history is聽preferred. Candidates are also expected to contribute to Vassar鈥檚 Program in Asian聽Studies. Candidates interested in participating in other ways to Vassar鈥檚 rich array of聽departments and multidisciplinary programs, such as the Department of Chinese and聽Japanese and the International Studies聽Program, are聽especially encouraged to apply.

Teaching load in the first year is four courses; after that it is four courses plus a聽tutorial-style 鈥渋ntensive鈥 which may include supervision of senior聽theses.How聽to Apply Candidates must have the Ph.D. in History or Asian Studies in hand at the start of聽employment. To apply, please visit聽.
